Important Biosecurity Update – EHV-1/EHM Protocols

In response to the EHV-1/EHM outbreak at HITTS Culpepper, and in consultation with the state veterinarian, we are implementing the following requirements to help protect the health and safety of all horses on the property:

Entry Requirements

• A temperature log (taken twice daily) must be recorded for three days prior to arrival.

• Temperature monitoring should be maintained twice daily for the duration of your horse’s stay on the property.

Biosecurity Guidelines

• Please do not share tack or equipment.

• We kindly ask that you do not handle or pet horses that are not your own.

• Stalls should be cleaned daily.

• Please follow all standard biosecurity best practices.

• If your horse develops a fever or shows any signs of illness, please notify the show veterinarian and management  right away.

James River Hunt will provide temperature logs to be posted on the front of each stall. Biosecurity spray will also be available for all participants to use at their convenience. While all stalls have been thoroughly sanitized, additional spray will be available for anyone who would like to take extra precautions.
